    • They said they made a big sacrifice not to work in the private sector leh. But in reality, our ministers are taking directorship roles in private companies.

    • Let's take a look:

If initially we paid $100 for electircity tariff.

      22% increase = $122

      Now, 25% decrease = $91.50

We are better off by 8.5%.

What say you? embarrassed.png I think the decrease is not enough, never enough haha...

    • 1) PM's pay will be 5.3 Million and peasant's pay will stay stagnant or reduced to remain competitive.

      2) 3/4 of the population will be PRs and 1/4 Singaporeans. Singapore's population would hit 6.5 Million to boost the economy.

      3) Lee Hong Yi steps into politics. biggrin.png

      4) 5 room HDB flats would hit $750K per unit on average. The young can no longer afford their own home. Or they will either slog out and use 30-50% of their monthly income to pay for their loans.

      5) Our labour force will switch more to servicing instead of manufacturing. Become more like a tourist attraction country. We have 2 IRs and lots of retail shops for tourists, PRs and Singaporeans alike to spend.

      6) Hydroelectric cars are introduced. More cars on the road. ERP per entry hits $5-$7. Road tax and COE all increase.

      7) GST increased to 10-15%.

      8) Corporate and personal income taxes go down.

      9) Birth rates hit to historical lowest.

      10) Full accountability of investments from GIC and Temasek made known to public. There will be internal audit of the finances of the country. (hopfully i get to see this)

All these are just my guesstimates and are based on assumptions. If I can predict the future, would be quite cool. lol! I would be "head-hunted" by the government. icon_lol.gif

No one can lead without opportunity. PAP is very good a it. For now they are just being complacent. biggrin.png

I had said before - changes will only comes after LKY die, PAP will split to form opposition party or parties and opposition will be in power then, then the struggling of power will start between these parties

I see...you think further than me. Alright then.

so far OTC was unable to do what is was suppose to do, so what makes you think he is that capable?

Gahmen just cant leave that seat empty, the whole idea was just a "make up"

Why are you so sensitive of "we"? Afraid of being tracked down by "you know who"?

OTC cant doesnt mean TKL cant also. Where is this sense of justice in Singaporeans? Are we cowards? What are we afraid of?

That presidential seat is just a "make up" or not. I hope this time it's different, that seat must be utilized by someone who knows how to.

By the way, "we" belong to the same group of eligible voters. Who you vote for is your choice. If you are pressured in voting someone or a party you dont like, something is very wrong here.

      Thats how I see it

So you think that there is a conspiracy? It's highly unlikely in my opinion.

      1) Helping the mis-sold investors when MAS is just observing how HK is doing.

      2) 100,000 signatures trying to get some citizens involve/aware about politics in Singapore to gather support for him.

      3) Local media published a biased comment from Mr Chua that directly attacks Mr Tan's character. How can they even allow that?

Are you sure nobody wants to be president? They were either not eligible by the government's standards or not approved by the government community which is appointed by the PAP.

If you are interested, there are some info for you to read. http://wayangparty.com/2008/11/28/remembering-the-last-two-presidential-casualties-ong-teng-cheong-and-andrew-kwan/

      "We" are the eligible voters.

He is trying to test water, politics in Singapore is not like any other countries. At least he is willing to step up for the voices of the common people. What more do you want to ask for?

      1. Before even a commission of inquiry into the supposedly 'mis-selling' had investigate and came out with any result, he led people into a demostration.

      2. He accused bank and staff of 'mis-selling', even without any proof, or misled others into  'presuming' that such accusations were true, thereby pre-judging and denying the bank and its staff, whom are citizens too, of a fair trial.

      3. Singapore is a lawful society, and our biz growth is dependent on the honouring of a signed contract by individuals.

To have repudiate such signed agreements, based on emotions, allegations, and prejudical notions is to render the biz system asunder, that which the larger society us is dependent on.

It would mean nothing is firm or secure - what we sign on the dotted line can be revoked anytime. This is what he meant when he took to the streets.

      4. He claims to represent the 500 or so who had signed on the dotted line, and made accusations. But he certainly did not represent the majority, clients, customers, staff,  shareholders, and even society. Who represented these people, whom are our citizens too?

      5. He allowed emotions to overcome him, on the plight of the elderly who claim they had no knowledge of the contract, but had he ever considered that for someone who had amass a wealth of more than $25,000 is not a village idiot, but most certainly a prudent and savvy individual careful with money?

Point is, he denied citizens fair trial, did not allow investigations, allowed emotions to take charge instead of rationality, continually led protests despite govt's efforts to look into the case, etc, etc...

Worse still, is speaking in a demostration a qualification to become Singapore's President? If so, then i am sure many unemployed will be registering to speak in Hong Lim soon.

Is this whom you want to be a president and the gatekeeper of our treasury?

Personally, I don't care much who gets voted, because i know for sure i will still have to work to earn a living, pay taxes and don't live in a Paradise. Be him a scholar or a roadsweeper. ( although i would be wary of the scholar more - as it is said - the non scholar will only rob a frieghthold, but the scholar will rob the entire railway! -kidding lah! Joke only, dont get upset please!)

If Mr Tan where to type like this, he would be sued all over!

The main problem is if there were no complaints the financial institutions would think that nothing is wrong. Do you think that old uncles and aunties have a huge risk appetite? A 100% potential loss of capital is very high risk! What are the returns? Hello! 5%! Not enough to even offset this year's 6-7% inflation rate.

If anyone would have known better, the uncles and aunties would not even invest in those "minibonds". Look at the probability of failure, out of 150, if 12 or 15 were to fail, all capital would be wiped out! You are better off gambling on "big" or "small" in the casino in which your odds are 50-50.

How easy is it for anyone to accumulate $25,000? Save $100 every month for 21 years. biggrin.png

    • If need money, can just withdraw from ATM, why need to close the whole account or have a joint account? If Mdm Huang has dementia how is she able to consider suing the bank? Must be her adopted daughter doing it on her behalf right?

Yes yes! It's heartening to see fellow Singaporeans take part in nation building in chosing their leaders and voice out signing petitions. Some changes that I notice. biggrin.png

is he going to be a outcaste like Ong Teng Cheong or just changing the soup without changing the ingredients?

Is'nt it a very clear plan? - getting ready for election and 1 standing out to speak for the people?

I just hope for the best or just another hopless hope?

Anything we do, we must have a plan, if not you are seeking doom.

The best plan is always one that you have not thought about while you carry out your previous plan. The best idea/creativity is usually one that just pop out of nowhere.

Mr Tan's initial plan was to help those mis-sold investors. Now there are many people who are asking him to be President and why not? If he had gathered enough support he will succeed.

Obama has a plan to become president. PAP has a plan to pick out their own candidate to stand for elections too! Whether you support him or not is your choice.

If I were the one standing for elections, I'd rather not have their support at all.

Most are e-learning stuffs. Would you pay a few dollars to read some article when you can find them online for free?

If I think that it's good, would gladly pay for it. They send me reminder letters 2 times already, that I have unused credits of $350. They make it sound like it's free, but it's not. Maybe my english language sucks, I never read properly.

Anyone signed up for any e-PREP courses? I need feedbacks. biggrin.png
