They didn't confiscate....well it's not illegal to carry knives in singapore, unless the police deems it as an offensive weapon. Now a stool can also be an offensive weapon but I'm not going to debate with the police anytime soon! LOL.

The custom asked for he knife's receipt...who brings receipt when they go camping?

    • hi peeps,

Am considering dumping my Airwave for an executive sedan too. Eyeing the C200k, 320, A4, Jetta TSI and IS250.

I used to like Saab cos my dad had one but the ‘new’ models looks cheesy with silvery ‘mascara’ round the lamps.

Volvo is too expensive for it’s many star safety ratings so i’ll pass it too.

Going thru my checklist, Jetta is too Civic and IS250 can only ferry hobits in the rear.

That leave me with C200, A4 and 320. how?
Been to the Super Imports Night for the past 2 days and frankly,

    • Credit card encourages over spending.

E.g. If you earn $2500. Your credit limit is prolly $5000.

Say you subtract $1000 from your pay for monthly expenses, you are left with $1500.

Nowadays, it's damn easy to spend $1500 in a month. If you own a car, it's definitely gone.

So you end up using your credit.

When pay day comes, left hand in and right hand out.

If you ever need money for hols or medical, that's it. You are in debt!

      Debt debt debt.

    • Best, dun get any!!! If not, you'll be in debts forever!

If you need for emergency sake, just get the Everyday card. The limits are lower so you dun over spent.

BUT, be prepared to get IN DEBTS!!!!!!

    • Alrighty Cool dude!

Unfortunately, there's no email notification from this forum (a good thing for some!) Just need to click on 'My Topic'.

Anyway, I'll make a note of it in my calendar. Hopefully there're discounts :P

      Side note:

Bringing knife to Ubin is a pain now that we have an x-ray custom there. Now we need to show receipt for proof of purchase!!!! WTH??? Who brings receipt of knife when they go camping in Ubin? And my knife blade is only 3" long! :(

    • Hi peeps,

Sorry for not dropping by as often as I hope to...as Jer had mentioned, I just started a new job and it's been really busy. And since i'm under probation, surfing SGF is not entirely helping with my confirmation....

Also, I have been sick for the past weeks...down with some uncky cough that stopped me from my regular singing gigs at the radio....However, even if I'm not singing, i'll be yakking away on 100.3fm and jamming along...

Long and short of it, MISS you all too and tune in to 100.3 every Monday evening from 11pm -12am.

Meanwhile, i'm busy getting inspired for my indie album and I hope you too are inspired in your life!

      加油 !

    • Long time haven't been here...let me take a quick break from work....

Anyone getting a fixed blade, I recommend a Falkniven F1. I personally have this 3.5" blade and it's a damn sweet tool to have when you are out field or camping.

With 3.5" blade, you cannot chop effectively, but you can baton. Watch Man versus Wild every Tues on Discovery Channel and you can see Mr. Bear Gryils batoning for firewood. He also carry a 3.5" - 5" blade. Nice, handle and not too obtrusive.

The price is around $170 (US) but Shears Technology is selling it for over $250. Do check shipping charges and policies. Apparantly our dear custom (or was it Sing Post) has recently amended thier policies on 'weapon'!!!!! Toopid!

Another nice to have knife is the Ontario Rat-3 or Gerber's LMF II. Have to order but it's a great knife. Youtube/Google it :)

As for folders, I strongly recommend Victorinox's SAK (Swiss Army Knife) - RescueTool! It's great to have it in your car or office. It has glass breaker for emergency extradiction should you or some victims are trapped in a vehicle.

You can also use it to smash other's wind screen for their cash card! KIDDING :$

If you need a plier, Gerber is the answer. Unfortunately, i personally dislike leatherman.

SOG is a great too but I dun no recommend it. Why, cos when using the plier, the design for the handle can hurt your palms real bad....sores and all.

I am using the defunct Buck paratools. Other great multitool is Gerber.

    • Funny that people associate knife as a weapon.  Come on, it's a tool. Anything can be a weapon. Most people are stabbed with a kitchen knife, not a military or outdoor knife.

Knife is a tool. If you dunno how to use a tool, give you also no use.

Folders have their function. Fixed blades have their functions. But they cannot replace each other.
